Us mamas need a little more “me” time & a little less “doing everything for everyone else” time. So, we declare this weekend as the perfect time to test out a few of our favorite self-care hacks, which are sure to rejuvenate you while you’re stuck at home.

Steam Shower with Eucalyptus Branches- Lace up your sneaker and walk to your local flower shop or green market and grab a bundle of eucalyptus branches. Eucalyptus oil has been used in spas worldwide because of its healing properties; stress reduction, respiratory health, sinusitis congestion & pain relief. With spas closed, you can easily recreate the aroma during your next shower. Tie the branches around your shower head, close your eyes & inhale; as the steam releases the oil out of the fresh leaves, you’ll get a subtle fragrance that is sure to calm even the most tense nerves.
A Brisk Walk - Don’t underestimate the power of walking. This low-impact activity has been shown to dramatically reduce stress, boost your mood, help keep your waistline trim & even calm anxiety. Getting outside, into a green space, will lead your brain into a more relaxed state. Walking - even in the cold - can improve your memory & even help fight off fatigue, something we have been experiencing more and more over the past 8 months.
Journaling - Mental health is high on the radar for every single person this year. From our children to our parents, the pandemic has affected our state of mind in one way or another. Studies have shown that the simple act of journaling with pen and paper will reduce symptoms of depression & anxiety, boost your mood, increase your self-awareness & enhance your overall well-being. Many who journal regularly see their life improve in ways that they didn’t anticipate, such as; improved relationships, enhanced self-love & acceptance & (our personal favorite) the recognition of gratitude & abundance. The best thing about journaling (in our humble opinion) is the private act of asking the universe for help & seeing how you’re given exactly what you want.
Meditation - For many people, meditation seems impossible. With so many thoughts swirling in our minds, how can one shut it off? If you’re thinking this, you’re not alone, but trust us, it’s worth a try. The benefits of meditation far outweigh the challenges of getting started. Like walking, meditation will improve your mood, help fight off anxieties & bring awareness to your inner peace. There are many meditation methods, so you may need to find one that is right for you, but we suggest trying Headspace. An easy-to-access app which helps guide - beginners & experts alike- through a wide range of meditative techniques.
Dance - One of our favorite ways to release stress, boost endorphins (those happy hormones) and, of course, burn some of those extra calories we’ve all been intaking this year. Any time you can get your heart rate up & your body moving is an ultimate win, so why not have a little fun. Hell, we say grab a glass of wine, close your bedroom door, turn on your favorite playlist & dance like no one's watching (because no one is)!
