"What is it, to be a hero? Look in the mirror and you'll know... Because a hero isn't someone who lives above us, keeping us safe. A hero is not a god or an idea. A hero lives here... on the street, among us, with us." Karen Page, Daredevil

How Superhero Mamas Gifts-Back
In the first 6 months of operation, founder and Chief Gift Giver, Lisa Virtue, chose to commit a one-to-one gift giving effort to recognize foster moms in Oregon and partnered with the Department of Human Services (DHS) to do so. On Friday, April 30, 2021, 3 generations of women in Lisa's family delivered 150 gifts to DHS in Salem, Oregon. The DHS team delivered these gifts to foster mamas and foster children to give to their biological moms at weekly visits for Mother's Day, 2021.
This generous donation brought tears to the DHS team's eyes, as they have not previously been able to recognize the foster moms in this way. The goal of these gifts is to fuel these women's superpowers, empowering them to continue their selfless acts of kindness to children in need and for them to feel seen and appreciated by their community. Several Superhero Mamas customers also sponsored foster mom gifts, assisting in the cost burden of these efforts.
As a registered benefit company* here in Oregon, Superhero Mamas is committed to gifting back to the community whenever and wherever possible. We are also on a mission to turn a profit - which is how we will be able to continue to do good for our community as a business. Without a profit, these makers and the community will not benefit from our mission. "You have to have a margin to have a mission".
